The patient’s lung focuses on healing itself and takes on oxygen either through spontaneous breathing or with the support of non-invasive ventilation via mask. If that is not sufficient, protective ventilation can be carried further with the Vision α® . The most advanced high-frequency oscillating ventilator for adults and children, it can provide optimal oxygenation in the lung.
In addition, the world’s first extracorporeal artificial lung – the iLA Membrane Ventilator® – breathes outside the patient’s body, effectively removing carbon dioxide and reducing it to the desired level. This supports the gas exchange function of the native lung and provides relief for the breathing pump.
